Meh. Not a whole lot amazing's been going on for me lately.

I'm building a guitar in wood working class. It's coming along rather well. I'm a little worried about making the neck, though. I used a baritone scale length, so I figured I'd need a truss rod made for a Bass guitar, but now I'm finding that it sticks out of the neck a few inches. It should work ok, it'll just look a little wonky :S Also, the frets need to be UBER precise about where they're placed, or it'll sound like garbage. I'm pretty much living on a hope, a prayer, and a dream with that. I'll get pics of it up once it's finished.

In other news, I've been composing music for my high school band. At our Spring Concert in three weeks, our last performance of the year, two pieces will be played [I will try my best to get them video taped and posted on Youtube. If I can, links shall be posted]. Memories, a classical guitar solo that I wrote, and then had to murder my fingers until they could play it, and Knighttime Nightmares. Knighttime is a fun little piece that has the entire band playing. Best part is, Mr. Ivie, our director, is letting me direct the piece at the concert, and he's playing his French Horn in the band. Of course, he wants me to lead rehearsals as well. And that's a lot harder than one would think. Especially when you don't get half the respect the director gets, and he doesn't even get half as much as he deserves. =/ Anyways, Knighttime Nightmares is a fun piece that I started writing out in what is called Dorian Mode, rather than a Major or Minor key. It just changes what notes you would use in a given musical key. At any rate, I picked Dorian because it's the mode used very often in medieval-ish sounding music. It's very renaissancey. The piece sort of evolved in my head, and I developed a sort of story that goes with the music, and through that birthed the title Knighttime Nightmares. If I am able to post the video later, I may bore you with details on the piece itself.

Besides all that, I have Prom to go to next Saturday. Which is actually kind of intimidating. I didn't go to Prom last year, and I tend to feel awkward at our normal school dances, so I have no idea what to make of Prom. Also, I'm still waiting on an answer, but I MAY have a date to this dance, which is an amazing first for me [she just needs to figure something out first. I should find out in a day or so]. I don't know if she knows this or not, but she will be my first date. At all. Ever. Which is a big step for me. =/

Which brings me to this: I am now a high school senior. And the year is almost over. On the one hand, I'm excited. 13 years are finally coming to an end! On the other hand, it's actually quite depressing. I've come to love the band and jazz band more than I ever though I would. Heck, even marching band has its memories. I'll still keep in touch with a few friends, but the others...I may never see them again, for years to come. I know this is trivial; I'll make new friends down the road. And maybe we'll be closer than ever. But the thought of leaving people behind that I grew up with. That I laughed and cried with. It's almost Emo-worthy. It isn't even so much a matter of us going to different colleges; no, some of these guys are LEAVING THE STATE, AND NOT COMING BACK. What do I do then? What do THEY do? They've left everyone.

But I digress. It's a stage in life everyone goes through, and I know I'll come through. I've got my good friends, my close friends, and people that I'll keep in touch with for years to come. That's all I'll need.
